Picture of the day – many pictures. I have no idea where this comes from (I found in on a Tumblr, uncredited) but damn, I want one.

I admit it, while I am adamantly child-free, I am a sucker for a well-dressed little kid, and have been known to contribute stylin’ outfits to my wee niece’s wardrobe.(But what does it mean when toddlers dress like adults and grown men go about in shorts and sweat socks and ball hats?) Also –  what’s with the aviator glasses? Are those back in for adults, too? Ick. [Buzzfeed]

Speaking of kids – not all of them are special snowflakes, and it might be a good thing to let them know that. [The Atlantic]

Bands you should know more about, but probably don’t – Shonen Knife. Really, you need to listen to some Shonen Knife, right now, I know you do. [Dangerous Minds]

Listen up hipsters – the hot new food trend is… roadkill. So get on out there with your fixed-gear bicycle and run yourself down some squirrel or pigeon. [Gawker]

The recent interest in Vivian Maier has provoked stories of other street photographers to emerge. Like these great shots by Bob Mazzer of people on the London tube during the 70s and 80s. [Telegraph]

I hope to hell that my friend Steven Davey compiled this list of meaty dishes from Toronto restaurants over a year’s worth of reviews and didn’t spend the last few weeks running around town on a meat bender. Because this is a list to block arteries. [NOW]

This is a new twist on the pop-up restaurant, the location stays the same, but the chef and the food vary from week to week. [The Grid]

Want a quieter restaurant where people can actually have a conversation? Turn off the music. People will unconsciously talk more quietly because there’s less sound to talk over. [Inside Scoop SF]

If you eat some tasty truffles this year, check to see where they came from. They might just be from Tennessee (where they’ve been deemed to be every bit as good as the Italian ones), and they’ll have been hunted by the most adorable dogs. [Garden & Gun]

Michael Schmidt is now on day 19 of his hunger strike over the lack of legalization for raw milk, and says he will continue until Premier Dalton McGuinty grants him a meeting. [Toronto Star]

When it comes to shoplifted items, cheese is the most popular food for people to steal. I’m guessing this is because it’s usually small enough to slip into a pocket. Shame about the crackers being so bulky. [Sky News]

The blood is the life… just in time for the season of ghouls and vampires, Toronto chefs are cooking with blood. And while, IMO, items like blood sausage tastes like rank death, some of the stuff (like a tart where blood is combined with chocolate) are actually really good. [Globe and Mail]

For all of those 99% complaining that they can’t get a job, any job at all, maybe they can explain why, all over the US, in the face of a crackdown on illegal immigrant workers, farmers are having to either turn to prison labour or destroy their crops because they can’t find unemployed people willing to do field work. [Wall Street Journal]

Confirmed – The Four Seasons‘ “mystery chef” is indeed Daniel Boulud. [Toronto Star]
